X5360. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/AJL.1/MJ.6.3.30. 25 HP. CAR BRAKE SQUEAK DAMPERS. Preliminary tests on cars from which the brake squeak damper sectors have been removed, have indicated that we are not yet in a position to discard these parts without running into trouble. It may be possible to do this if we use some other brake lining such as Ferobestos. Under the circumstances, we consider it unwise to stop the production of these damper sectors. The 10,000 mile test 25 HP. at present in France, is fitted with Ferobestos front brake linings and no squeak damper sectors. We cannot make a decision until this test is completed.
