To Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} To WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} } From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW. X1775 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/TMW/LG30.9.26. EXPERIMENTAL AND AIR MINISTRY AERO ENGINES. As the number of these increases, the need for a central place to store them becomes greater. There are at present at least 12 Air Ministry engines in the Expl: Dept's charge, and to these must be added those belonging to R-R which require storing from time to time. At present they are distributed in various Departments and we recommend that the Test House, sandwiched between Nos. 10 and 11, at present being rigged up as a Condor bed and not required, be utilised as a store-house where engines could be locked up, and systematically oiled and revolved, as is insisted on by the Air Ministry. It would necessitate facilities being provided for hoisting engines when transporting. Advantage could also be taken here to store propellers and other perishable aero test tackle. NO.8 TEST BED. We anticipate doing some long endurance runs with F.X. on this bed in the near future, and would prefer a larger petrol tank at a higher level than the one installed. We only get a working quantity of about 40 galls. at present and any slight delay in filling up would jeopardise continuous running. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/T.M.Warwick. | ||
