COPY. LISSEN, LIMITED, Lissenium Works, Worple Road, Isleworth, Middlesex. Ref:SEB/VO. 1st September, 1930. Colonel Fell, Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., 14, Conduit Street, LONDON, W.1 Dear Sir, Your name has been mentioned to us by Mr. Emtage of the Air Ministry, who has suggested that you would doubtless be interested in the new type Sparking Plug of our manufacture, which the Air Ministry have been testing recently, and which has, up to the present, given truly excellent results in aircraft engines. It occurs to us that possibly, as a preliminary, you would like to inspect a set of our standard air plugs of the same type to those which the Air Ministry have been testing and you could then give them a trial in your own engine. We are, therefore, taking this opportunity of sending you, under separate cover, six of our B.S.2. type plugs, and we shall be glad if you will kindly examine these closely, since they are practically identical in general design to the aircraft pattern, the only difference being that in certain cases we have made the bodies of steel instead of brass alloy. As you will readily appreciate, this particular type of plug embodies several unique advantages, the chief of which are; extremely light weight, small overall dimensions, and the fact that whilst they are non-detachable, the insulation is, nevertheless, entirely accessible and easily cleaned, resulting in the elimination of service wear, due to frequent detaching experienced with ordinary plugs. More-over, it is easy to see the condition of the plug immediately it is removed from the cylinder. If you desire, we shall be very pleased for our representative to call and discuss the whole matter further, at any time convenient to your goodself. Yours faithfully, p.p. LISSEN LIMITED.
