To DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} } FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} C. to CJ. BJ. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X5940 20 HP. TRACK. RS{Sir Henry Royce's Secretary}/1429.11.24. X.5940 X.4259 Increasing the width of the track on the 20 HP. would give you an opportunity of increasing the width of the rear brake drums, as suggested by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, to make the problem of the scoring of the drums less acute. Personally I believe that trouble with brakes is nearly entirely due to the fault of the driver, who has a habit of using the brakes unnecessarily. The unnecessary use of brakes is to be discouraged not only on account of the brakes themselves, but of petrol consumption and wear of tyres. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
