PH.III OIL COOLER CHANGES.

Referring to Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.1/MH.{M. Huckerby}8.4.38, Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/JT.O/JW.14.4.38, and Hq/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister}14/HR.14.4.38, we recommend that the remaining 210 oil coolers which have to be changed on A and B series cars should be changed as soon as this can be managed, i.e. where possible cars should be brought into depots for this purpose instead of waiting until they are in for other work.

With regard to failures on C series dip soldered coolers (not the final 'F' coolers) we do not think it advisable to change C series coolers for F type ones until we are thoroughly satisfied that F type coolers give no trouble in service. 91 are now in service on A and B series cars, having replaced hand soldered ones, while the last 17 chassis in C series had F type coolers fitted.
