So far agree that higher Compression is necessary
to prevent talking please
[TYPED TEXT]:
Referring your memo covering memo from PN{Mr Northey}, reference Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}8/YG. 10.8.22, I am of the opinion that we should offer to supply this gentleman with a chassis which has a special radiator, high speed fan, and high compression engine.
I am aware that this last expression is supposed to have been expunged from the records of RR, but as a matter of fact I do not understand how we are going to meet the conditions in Switzerland if this ruling is strictly adhered to, as it will be remembered that we obtained distinct improvement in regard to boiling on a number of cars which were used in Switzerland, by fitting high compression engines and high speed fans, in fact, so far as I am aware, we entirely cured the trouble by this means.
I would suggest in addition to the two things which we have already done, we could do a third, namely, fit a larger radiator, which would have a matrix 3" deeper than the present one. Arrangements for fitting this would be made by dropping the radiator 1", and raising it above the top 3". I think that the radiator would give a talking point, whilst the other two improvements would overcome the trouble.
Possibly PN.{Mr Northey} would make any comments he thinks fit upon the proposal.
