To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E.3/HP.22.12.34.

c. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} at Chateroux.

Difficulty in engaging starting handle on the 20/25, 10,000 mile car.

Referring to your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}1/KW.19.12.34, we have arranged by agreement with BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} to immediately alter the heat-treatment of these suspension tubes so as to increase the toughness. They are somewhat on the soft side at present in 3% drawn nickel steel.

We are then following this up by fitting a heavier gauge tube, and we are also looking into the question of increasing the diameter.

You must appreciate however that the running in France represents an outside condition since the settling down was not experienced on the bumper test at Derby.
