contd:- -3- drivers as possible to try the car. For the person who was to be responsible to see that the programme laid down for the car is carried out, we chose a highly skilled tester. We do not think it would be satisfactory to put a man in charge of the type of a semi-skilled man, especially if that semi-skilled man realised that he was expected to criticise the running of the car. We should have to be continually sending an expert on the car in order to be able to interpret the complaints and criticisms. We can positively assure you that absolutely nothing is done to the car which is running the 10,000 miles unless it is recorded and a reason for it. The tester, being an expert, realises the necessity for this - if we have a semi-skilled man he probably would not appreciate this point. We quite approve of Major Jopp or anyone running the car. When we first started the test we offered to send the car for C. to use during a part of his holidays, but we heard further nothing from him. The 20 HP. car which is the only car we are running so far, is fitted with a Gwynne Body - 4-seater. 50% of the running (approx.) has been done with 4 passengers. We considered that this was approximately the average condition. We propose asking for a new body before we start on a further test. The 20 HP. car has now completed approx. 9000 miles. We should like to know whether you wish the test to be completed by running the car backwards and forwards to London? contd:- | ||
