To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} for Hy{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} -2 COPY. R7/IB231014. round the pulley is not great. The links of the belt also will not wear anything like so quickly. I have, therefore, asked for a dynamo which shall run at approximately 1 1/4 times the engine speed, but will certainly not exceed 1 1/2 times the engine speed. I believe such a dynamo, even if it gave a smaller current, would be more satisfactory. The second point is that the system should have a more satisfactory automatic cut in and cut out. This appears to be all right in the Lucas system, and seems to work very well with the exception that their dynamo is of such a shape as to give a very unsatisfactory adjustment of the pulley, and of such a high speed as to require very small pulleys on the dynamo, and I believe if this system were fitted with a better dynamo, there is not much to complain of about the whole system.
