E.C.3. 25th September 1936. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. -------- Dear Sirs, We have pleasure in sending you for test free of charge the following Angus Oil Seals fitted with "Gaco" Sealing Washers:- 12. 2.066" o/d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 1.375" shaft/D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 1/2" thick. 12. 1.753 o/d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 1.125" shaft/D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} x 7/16" thick. We are confident that your tests will prove our claims for our "Gaco" compound material as regards unusual resistance to wear and heat and very low friction on shafts. In a few weeks' time we will have a special centreless grinder installed in our works, and thereafter all our oil seals will be ground on the outside diameter within a limit of plus or minus .001", and to even finer limits if required. The seals which we are now sending you, however, are not yet ground, having been finished on the lathe. We will be glad to have your report as to the performance of our oil seals in due course, and shall hope to be favoured with your orders, which will receive our best attention. Yours faithfully, GEORGE ANGUS & CO. LTD. | ||
