Sourcing and ordering of Thermoid brake linings for Bentley and Wraith models.

We have got to buy 400 each of the Bentley II friction lining pieces in Thermoid D.35.I.H. quality from America and 100 each in the Wraith and B.III sizes. We cannot expect Thermoid Co. to make such a large number of pieces by hand but the numbers are too small to pay for the complete cost of dies especially the Bentley pieces which are obsolescent. The question is further complicated on Wraith by the uncertainty as to whether we will use tipping shoes on the brakes or not. The only economical way to buy these linings is to do so in one piece per shoe. This saves about 22 1/2 % die cost per axle and reduces the cost per piece by about one sixth. On the other hand we have to cut each piece in two, and we shall have to drill the lining ourselves (at present we pay 10/- to have this done for us) We can get back from Ferodo Ltd. our drilling jigs, and thus save ourselves this cost on Bentley II. Will you please order the following pieces. GB.3275 - 400 pieces } Bentley II. GB.3276 - 400 pieces GB.1891 - 100 pieces } Wraith GB.1892 - 100 pieces GB.3277 - 100 pieces } Bentley III. GB.3278 - 100 pieces Will you instruct Thermoid to make the necessary moulding dies, and obtain fresh quotations as now the total tool cost must be reduced as there are no drilling jigs to make.
