Dear Mr. Thompson,

I have been going into the question of the driving position of your Bentley to enable you to sit in comfort in the car wearing overcoats etc.

In order to ensure that you have ample room I can arrange for a special steering column to be made. The additional cost of this will be £3.17.0d. In conjunction with the steering column adjustment this should give you at least 2" more room between the bottom of the wheel and the seat than on the car you tried. You will find that this approaches your existing Chrysler dimensions.

Regarding the sliding seat to provide easy access to the front of the car, which I described to you, this is a special fitting and the price for it is £3.0.0d. I consider the cost excessive; on the other hand it would probably be worth more than that in comfort to you. Therefore unless I hear to the contrary I shall arrange for the additional cost of £6.17.0d. to be incurred.

I think there will be no question that the ground clearance of the car will now be adequate with the proposed modifications to the road springs. We are however instructing the Coachbuilders to leave room for large wheels to be fitted, should you find that in spite of the other modifications you would prefer the car to be higher off the ground.
