X.3564. - LUCAS JUNCTION BOX. -> FUSES. X.2515.

In reply to an enquiry from your Dept. regarding specification of fusing current of fuse wire for Lucas junction box, we now consider that, owing to complaints of this wire too readily fusing, we should alter the gauge from 19 to 17 S.W.G. tin lead, and specify the fusing current in position in the box to be between 25 and 30 amperes. We think this is an alteration which is justifiable to put through straight away. Will you, therefore, kindly instruct this alteration.

We are obtaining some of this wire and will confirm the fusing current, but we know the current will be between these limits from what we have previously done.

Possibly the reason that these fuses have been readily going laterly than at first, may be due to the proportion of tin to lead being different in the various deliveries of wire. It would appear that we should get to know a suitable ratio of tin to lead so that this can be specified in addition to the other particulars of the wire.
