INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOUNTING THE S.U. ELECTRICAL FUEL PUMP. PRESSURE TYPE.

The pump should be mounted with the body in a horizontal direction, and the outlet union marked "OUT" pointing vertically upwards. As the pump delivers to the carburetter at a pressure of about one pound per square inch it may be mounted either above or below the carburetter, but preferably not more than one foot above or below in order to give the most desirable pressure at the float chamber.

The electrical connections are battery positive, through switch to terminal marked "PLUS" on the pump, earth returned through the body of the pump. Mounted on a wooden dashboard on earth wire should preferably be run from the body of the pump to earth. The filter is situated beneath the pump and may be removed for cleaning by unscrewing the projecting filter head with a tommy bar.

The pump should be mounted as near to the carburetter as possible in order to obtain the maximum delivery from the pump (which is about ten gallons per hour) and the delivery pipe should be kept short. In cases where it is not convenient to mount in this way and the maximum delivery is required, it is advantageous to fit an air bottle or reservoir close to the pump outlet from which reservoir the delivery pipe can then be taken to the point at which delivery is required.
