We experienced considerable trouble during yesterday's run due to plug misfiring. No.6 plug terminal was sparking across a 3/4" gap to the induction pipe nut, and when wet, after having driven through puddles of water, the sparks ran down the procelain insulation on both Nos.4,5, and 6. These have been examined and the points have increased to the following sizes, from the original setting of .022", over a mileage of 5.070, since they were fitted. Nos. 1 2 3 4 5 6 Gaps when removed ........ .029" .029" .029" .031" .033" .034" The points of Nos. 4,5, and 6 have burnt to a taper. We have re-set these to .020" and have since had no further trouble. DELCO-REMY DISTRIBUTOR. We also experienced a complete engine cut-out due to the spring retaining clip which holds the make and break rocker arm down on the bearing pin, having fallen off and jammed between the contact connecting strip and the case, causing a short. This has been closed up and replaced. Enclosed is a rough sketch showing the offending part in position. It appears that this has been moving back and fore with the rocker bush and has worn the groove in the brass pin provided for it, thus allowing itself to fall off due to inadequate spring tension.
