To EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} c. to Lp.{Mr Lappin} Private. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.10/KW.19.8.35. Sparking Plug Trouble at Pembroke Dock. Referring to your EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}12/MH.{M. Huckerby}17.8.35, paragraph 1, page 2, Lodge A2/1 plugs as well as the K.L.G. V7 are obsolete for use on any Kestrel S. engines. One thing we are not yet quite clear about is why K.L.G. V9/1 plugs were fitted to the Singapore engines when according to Mr. Foord's report, obvious sooting up of the plugs was occurring. Also, Bates' report is rather contradictory on this point as he states (para. 1) that "Lodge A2/2B plugs were fitted when the trouble first occurred" and later on states that fitting a set of Lodge A2/2B "cured the trouble".
