25 RUE GIDE LEVALLOIS-PERRET. Seine. France. 3rd. May 1935. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. 5 B IV. We have received your telegram :- " Ensure that you have standard size Induction " " pipe and that throttle opens fully Lappins " " Car lapped Brooklands 90.7 with similar head." With regard to the throttle, there is no question of it not being fully open. We have carried out a further test on Montlhery with the high compression head and standard Induction pipe. The result is exactly the same obtained with the smaller Induction pipe. Average Lap Speed, Cut-out Closed 88.5 MPH. Average Lap Speed, Cut-out open 89.9 MPH. We have tried a standard front Axle. The steering is slightly steadier, but heavier. The result is because of the general tighter fitting of pivot pins etc., rather than anything else. ---------------- GWHancock G.W.H. | ||
