-5- We are however trying this piston with and without stops. From the tests we have carried out we conclude that the existing scraper is not doing the amount of work we anticipated and with this in view we are having L section scrapers produced as an experiment. Further tests are being carried out on the Bentley with Chevrolet type of high pressure rings in conjunction with thin oil, Castrol Z. At the moment one set of 25/30 pistons and one set of Bentley Aerolite pistons are at Willworthy Ltd., who are fitting rings with a view to obtaining improved oil consumption. Though at various times the effect of the oil jet in the connecting rod has been tried without any appreciable difference this is being repeated. By an interchange of Aerolite and 25/30 pistons Lx, has proved that the former is in itself, a more efficient scraper than the latter. HB{C. E. Harcombe}/L.H.Swindall. | ||
