+611' Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.5/MA. 27th January, 1936. Messrs.British Insulated & Helsby Cables, Ltd., Helsby, Nr.Warrington. For the attention of Mr.E.A.Bayles. Dear Sir, Many thanks for the sample sheath received which we have since investigated. Firstly we do not consider that black cotton braid black cellulosed will be entirely successful as a water proof covering and would suggest instead an oil varnished (entirely impregnated) cotton, silk or canvas sleeving like "Systoflex" sleeving. Secondly we find that the internal diameter of the sleeving is too small and would suggest that this should not be less than .350 inches. The sleeving should be approx. .020" thick so that the total overall diameter of the sheath including the P.B. braid will be approximately .420 to .430 inches. Will you kindly have a further sample produced for us on these lines. Thanking you for your active co-operation, we remain. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
