Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. o to Hd{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy}/SB.{Mr Bull/Mr Bannister} WST 6142. K/KC/DPB/7.12.35. Chassis No.B.136.AH. W.Miesegaes. (Dex Autos.) ------------------- Discharged Battery. ------------------- The above 3 1/2-litre was at K on the 30.11.35, with a complaint that the battery would not turn the engine. The battery voltage was checked and the battery was found in a semi-discharged condition. A new battery was fitted, the voltage regulator tested and checked, the dynamo, which is an LOP type was found to be in perfect working order. The car started perfectly from cold after a period of 48 hours. This test was carried out at the request of the owner. Yesterday I received an S.O.S. from Dex Autos, Mr.R.Miesegaes (the brother of the owner) stating that he was experiencing the same trouble again in that the starter would hardly turn over the engine after one night's usage. For your information, I do not think either the dynamo or the battery get a fair chance from a charging point of view - the usual thing with London cars - night work - in a park for four hours or so - (wireless is fitted to this car, although I am given to understand that this does not enter into the question and I can dismiss this from my mind) and it appears to me that the only solution is the fitting of a larger capacity battery with a voltage regulator altered to suit. I have informed Dex Autos that apart from ascertaining that everything is in order, I cannot depart from standard. There is no question of any fault with his batteries, as he has had several and you can dismiss from your mind any fault with the electrical equipment. Dynamo and starter are perfect. -contd- [Handwritten note on left margin]: L.B. Find out if this car has a genue starter on. No opened starter on this Car Pts. | ||
