SHOCK ABSORBER CONNECTIONS.

[Handwritten: Y5840]

We have now carried out sufficient tests to say that we think that the trouble with lack of lubrication of the bottom ball pad of the shock absorber link is due to the passages allowing the oil to flow from the top ball pads to the bottom pads, being inadequate.

We find that if we file three flats on the top pad and three flats on the bottom pad as per attached sketch the bottom pads get adequately lubricated as long as the oil is getting to the ball end.

If the shock absorber bearings are badly worn you will see by the attached drawing that the oil from the centre point lubrication is likely is likely to go into the shock absorber instead of running to the ball end, and we want you to see whether after 10,000 miles your shock absorber bearings have worn sufficiently badly for this to occur.

The only test you need [handwritten insertion above: is] carry out/to operate the Bijur [handwritten insertion above: pump] arm and see whether oil appears at the ball end when the arm is in an upper position.

We should be obliged of you would try the flats on your car.
