Dear Mr. Grylls,

We have your letter of 22nd November.

The 4 - 6.50/16 Super Covers with the continuous shoulders should be ready for shipment in about two weeks time.

With reference to the experimental type of tyre which we sent, we are pleased to note that the new design is remarkably good on wet roads.

We are making a new mould in which we have incorporated variable pitch and 7 ribs instead of 9 with a slightly increased groove width. This design retains the features of the original design but we believe will overcome the peculiar type of wear which developed on the sample tyre which you returned after 300 miles of running. We also expect the alterations in the design will overcome whining noises. It is just possible we may have to make a further alteration on the shoulders for the Bentley but we would like you to try out this new tyre before making further alterations. We expect this mould to be ready in about six weeks time. It is rather a complicated mould and several dies have to be made which accounts for the long time required to have the mould made.

It would not be convenient for me to come to Derby next week. I would suggest one day during the week commencing 12th December if this would be suitable to you.
