Dear Sirs,
Dynamo E.575.
We have now compared the output of this dynamo with the control brush in the normal position with the output of the same dynamo with the brush in the retarded position and find that in the "normally hot" working condition of the dynamo, the maximum output with the brush in the retarded position is reduced from 12 amperes to 9 1/4 amperes; the amount of retardation of the brush corresponding to 1 1/4 commutator segments.
As it is essential that the minimum output is 10 amperes when the dynamo is "normally hot", we have decided that the amount of retardation of the control brush shall correspond to not more than 1 commutator segment and this should be tested by you, the condition being that the output does not go below 10 amperes when the dynamo is "normally hot".
Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED.
