X5260 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/M14.8.25. BONNET FOR MR. ROYCE'S CAR. X.8260 X.5260 As a result of this chassis coming down here we are inclined to abandon the new type of bonnet clip giving side pressure, as being rather impracticable, and wish to fall back on either the existing 40/50 or the Goshawk type. We suggest that the Goshawk is somewhat preferred to the 40/50 as regards ease of operation and cleanness, and should like to try a set fitted to Mr. Royce's car with a view to standardisation for 'X' series if found satisfactory. Would you kindly prepare an arrangement of these clips on Mr. Royce's bonnet and send it down to us for our remarks. You will of course understand that we want the guide springs replacing, and to retain the brass wearing strip which is a feature of Mr. Royce's bonnet. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
