X5005 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} re 20-G-4. Rubber Engine Mounting. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/E23.5.34 I drove this car over Whitsun and was very favourably impressed with the smoothness and silence and absence of vibration of the engine. As this was the car which C. drove before the alteration was made, I have asked him to use it this evening and send it up to Derby to-morrow as I am sure you would like it back as quickly as possible so that you can carry on with the experiment. The clutch as mentioned in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s note is of course very unsatisfactory but with care the shuddering can be avoided. I am sorry to note that the trouble is not going to be at all easy to get rid of on a RR car and I imagine there is some very definite difference in the layout of the Terraplane transmission as compared with ours which causes this trouble. Perhaps I can be told more about it when I am at Derby to-morrow. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} | ||
