re Bensport Supercharger.

Referring to your memo R.2/M.4.10.32, we sent a print of the modifications to the Powerplus blower for the reduced size to Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}, copy R.{Sir Henry Royce} on the 4th inst.

It will be remembered that we have instructed our designs once for the Powerplus blower for the 2250 cc. capacity, and immediately following this we set to work on a Roots type, as mentioned in E.6/HP.23.9.32 with the idea of getting David Brown and Co. to produce the rotors for us.

We also sent our designer down to the R.A.E. at Farnborough with Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Aln. to collect information on this type of blower.

The design work on the Rootes has been temporarily interrupted to modify the Powerplus to the smaller capacity of 1850 cc. but we are keeping someone constantly on the blower design.

If Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}'s drawing suits the modified Powerplus that we have sent we are confident that the Rootes type will go in without further modification to the chassis, provided we do not ask it to drive the fan.

The Rootes type blanks off the camshaft so we are left with only the water pump drive.

We have yet however to see a sports chassis fitted with a fan, and provided there is a good water pump we believe that only exceptional conditions would call for the fan. We, therefore, propose to go ahead without a fan drive on the Rootes installation.
