X.295 Extract from EFC4/AT30.3.29. X.2565. RE PARTS WHICH ARE HELD UP AFTER CHASSIS 1000. (1) Section 7220. X.3082. X.2656. Starter Motor. Experimental C.M.3. Morganite brushes together with N.1760 brush springs were fitted to chassis 2.EX for the 10,000 mile test. We understand that the 10,000 mile test is now completed in which case, subject to satisfactory service, we should be able to put through standardisation sheets for this brush. Will Mr. Hives let us have the necessary information to enable us to issue these sheets forthwith. At the same time we have been carrying out prolonged test of this combination of springs and brushes on a starter motor on the bench, and have completed about 100 starts and five minute runs under heavy load conditions without any sign of failure. We had hoped to have completed more than this so as to make it equivalent to the 10,000 mile test, but this was impossible on account of interference with other experimental work. (2) Section 7350. X.3713c. - Ignition Coil close to Distributor coil fixed to Dist. Arm by means of feet on bottom of coil. This modification has not yet been fitted to an experimental car and therefore, at the moment, we are not in a position to issue standardisation sheets. Stabilite mouldings are ordered for this purpose, but not yet received. (3) Section 7310. X.295. Smith Dynamo. The latest information in connection with the Smith Dynamo is contained in Messrs. Smith's letter, copy of which herewith. We have not yet received the machine referred to in the first paragraph, we are therefore, writing them again in this connection. | ||
