EASY STARTING.

I wish to suggest to Mr Royce a scheme for the above, as far as I have tested it this arrangement has proved to have most distinct advantages over everything we have tried previously. The scheme works in the same way as the Peerless arrangement or the syringe, but instead of sucking a mixture of petrol and air into the priming pump or syringe I use the standard hand pump on the dashboard and blow a certain quantity of petrol into the induction pipe, the mixture that is delivered to the pipe is in the same state as from the Peerless primer, that is, a fine spray.

Attached is a rough sketch of the arrangement, it will be seen the pipe from the hand pump is taken to a 3-way tap, in one position it will pump pressure into the tank in the ordinary way, in the other position the air is pumped into the induction pipe; on its way the pipe is taken to the float chamber and is connected to the petrol there through a non-return valve, the pipe is bent so as to form a reservoir for the petrol, normally the non-return valve is open so that there is a certain quantity of petrol laying in this pipe.
