STROBORET TYPE R

New Tele-Tachometer "Stroborama" for observing slowly and measuring and controlling from a distance speeds of all organs in movement particularly the Spindles of spinning mills and silk throwing machinery.

The Stroboret type R is a hand-apparatus, small in size and of minimum weight (2 lbs.). It does not require any electrical connection. It is easily carried about and is always ready for use.

Observations are made through slits in a Stroboscopic disc operated by clockwork movement which is rewound by a lever B with the index finger of the hand holding the apparatus. A regulating knob A controlled by the other hand, allows of the disc speed being varied. The speed remains automatically constant at each setting, a pointer indicating the speed on a graduated face, from 400 to 12,000 revolutions per minute.

APPLICATIONS

The apparatus allows of the direct measurement of phenomena, capable of being observed by stroboscopic methods. In particular it allows the measurement of rotation speeds the number of vibrations, of oscillations and of movements of reciprocating parts which take place during a given cycle. In addition it shows up at once any irregularities in any of these movements by virtue of the slow observation.

It does not require any contact with the machinery under observation, and can therefore be operated at a distance, say from an inaccessible organ. In this way no resistance is introduced which might influence the characteristics of the movement under observation. It can be used by an unskilled operator.

In the various branches of industry this instrument is invaluable for the observation of moving parts. It permits the operation of each part being verified and shows up at once the cause of bad running of a machine.

Among the branches of industry in which the Stroboret type R can be most usefully employed may be cited mechanical and electrical construction, aeronautics, automobiles, machine tools, spinning machinery, sewing machines, and talkies.

Regulation and operation

First of all see that the Stroboret is set on one slit or five slits depending on whether the scale of speeds of the moving part to be observed is 300-2,500 or from 1,500-12,500 revolutions per minute.

The number of slits in the disc can be seen immediately the latter is stopped, the split knob C in the centre being turned with the finger nail.
