X4553A G.W. Hancock, Esq., Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, France. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}19/KW.2.8.34. We note your remarks re the radiator. The figures that we have for the standard Marston Mark III radiator with shutters and fitments and full of water are - 106 lbs. the Harrison Vee type 77 lbs., making a total of 29 lbs. difference. The remaining 6 lbs. is due to substituting the grid for the radiator shutters. We shall be glad to have your opinion on valve clearance as to whether the .004" clearance is too little. We have tried to substantiate your figures that the cams Nos. 1 & 2 open the valves .031" more than the rest of the cams; this we have entirely failed to do, but possibly you will be able to check these more accurately.
