[Handwritten]: Experimental Dept.

Dear Sirs,

Replying to your letter of the 27th inst., regarding your request for a pair of H.V.8. carburetters 1 7/8" throttle bore for the 4¼ Litre Bentley, unfortunately it is impossible to fit the jet control mechanism under the air intake on this particular carburetter body, as on the present 1 5/8" throttle instrument supplied under contract.

We can put through a special pattern for a new carburetter body for this but this, of course, will mean a long delay and we could not supply under approximately one month; or alternatively you could have the standard carburetter and by fitting a special plug in the ¼" gas hole under the air intake, provide an anchorage for the top jet link pin as indicated on enclosed sketch.

[Red "Enclosure" stamp]

If this latter suggestion is agreeable to you, we should be extremely obliged if you could make this plug your goodselves as our Experimental Department is absolutely overwhelmed with work. Also, will you be so kind as to state in your reply, whether you require these carburetter bodies with an ordinary self finish or with your contract finish of black and dull nickel.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times, we are

Yours faithfully,
For THE S.U. COMPANY.

[Signature] B Cooper
