X3592 EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} at Springfield from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. to OY. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/LG6.12.22. BIJUR BENDIX DRIVE. We have carried out a test on the Bijur Bendix Drive and have operated it 8,000 starts. We found at the end of this time that the teeth on the geared ring of the flywheel were considerably damaged although nothing like to the same extent as on the present standard Bendix Drive. The Bijur Bendix itself appeared to be in excellent condition. The only fault we could find was that the two spring washers which form a shock absorber for the forward movement when the clutch takes up the drive, were squashed out flat. We should like you to ask the Bijur people whether they expect this and also what material they recommend for these washers. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
