To enable the Inspection job to be carried out properly at the Clan Foundry, the following equipment will be required:-

Surface table and centres, also table large enough to take crankcases.

Parallels, V.Blocks, etc. 4' straight edge.

Inspection benches and lighting for same.

Inspection stools.

Trestles for crankcases, crankshafts and cylinders.

Mercer Internal gauge for cylinder liners, main bearings etc.

Boxes for conveying parts (in this connection the boxes should be made of perforated metal, in the same manner as we are making for the Merlin job)

Valve polisher and facilities for polishing gudgeon pin bores.

Binks paint spray and the necessary tackle for same, for chalk testing crankcases and cylinders.

Chalk test tackle i.e. tanks and trays for containing the chalk.

Also magnetic test tackle.

Will Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} please put the order through the Plant Dept. for this tackle as quickly as possible.

I would suggest that whoever is responsible on Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}'s Staffs for ordering tackle of this nature, should come over to Nottingham and collect all the particulars for placing the order.
