Noise complaint caused by overnight engine testing and the planned modifications to the water-cooled exhaust silencers.

| X1209 To EJJ/JV. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}3/KW.26.6.36. No. 30 Test Bed. We are running an engine all night and every night in the above test house. Occupants of houses outside the Exptl. Dept. gate made a complaint last night (noise). Actually the test concerned is not producing very much noise; but we are altering the test in such a way as to produce 50% less noise, during the night. The exhaust silencers in this test house were designed to be water-cooled. Will you please arrange to have them rigged up with water.
