TO BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott} re. 20HP. STEP-IRONS. X5380 Herewith we send N. sch. 2383. shewing the proposed strengthened step-iron for the 20HP. As in the case of the Phantom we have endeavoured to avoid scrapping the dies so that the alteration can be got on as quickly as possible. We suggest that the flanges should be increased, and the material thickened, the combined increase being about 44%., which we expect will be sufficient. We think the thickening of the material will make more difference than appears from the calculations, as it will tend to make the cross section more rigid. Will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} kindly pass a print of this drawing to LHS.{Lord Herbert Scott}, for the consideration of the C.S.C. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
