Testing front axle pivots, comparing different types under torsional stress.

R.R.(Derby) Ltd. C.R.D. R.F.146. R1/B3213. Re 2 front axle pivots (contd.) cross tube joint would be of much use unless it were arrang-ed{J. L. Edwards} with the set-up bolt shewn. In addition to the bumping test on the front wheels I think that it would be quite well to make the revolving test suggested in Mr. Nadin's notes so that we may be able to compare the value of the various pivots when subjected to this torsional stress. This failure shews the advisability of fitting fast cars with wire wheels and pivots near the centre of the wheels as we have in hand. F.H.R. [Handwritten note on the right]: X168 | ||
