X8420 RHQ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. BY/SS.{S. Smith} c. Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead} c. BY/TWD.{T. W. D???Aeith} RECEIVED The experiment called for on N.Schemes 2294, and 2295, namely, the control of the front axle by a parallel motion, the arms of which are respectively the spring and the lever of the hydraulic shock damper, demands modification to the die of axle G.75016. The modification in question is incorporated in G.75484, which BY/TWD.{T. W. D???Aeith} will be issuing to the Experimental Dept. In order not to hold up production, it will be necessary for the Order Office to obtain their requirements of axles for D.2. Series. The modification, which consists in extending the face for the spring seating, will then have to be introduced. This can be done, as it only means taking metal out of the die, without any re-sinking being necessary, but it will mean that for further Series until the improvement in question is standardized, a certain amount of material will have to be machined off the axle. BY/TWD.{T. W. D???Aeith} will then specify that for Series following D.2, the axle forging should be G.75484 machined to G.75016. BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
