To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} C. D.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}4/KT.11.7.33. ACCIDENT TO 2.B.IV. I was proceeding into Stoney-Stratford at a speed of approx. 45 m.p.h. behind MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} who was driving the first production Bentley chassis. MX.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} pulled up behind a horse-drawn baker's van. Another car which had been masked by the baker's van then appeared, blocking up the whole of the road. Upon applying the brakes the car got into a rear wheel skid. Being unable to stop, there was no alternative but to hit one of the three vehicles or a telegraph pole. The latter alternative was chosen with considerable damage to 2.B.IV. car. The surface of the road which was slightly down-hill was wet tar Macadam. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
