R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFC. c. to AJ. c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to Ry. ORIGINAL EHS/T15.7.21. X.2515 - RE FUSES AND FUSE HOLDERS. The provision of two spare fuse holders (ready loaded) in the Lucas switchbox or distribution box was not considered to be a cure for a defective piece of apparatus, but rather a step to enable the full advantage of the R.R. type of fuse holder to be secured. Ready loaded spares have been, or are being, provided experimentally in (1) The Lucas improved switchbox with the R.R. type of fuse holder. (2) The Lucas distribution box with R.R. type of fuse holder. (3) The R.R. distribution box for the R.R. double wiring scheme - sample on Long Chassis. The R.R. type of fuse holder has the great advantage of more reliable contacts for the fuse wire, enabling fine copper wire to be used, the size of which for the field current we are at the present moment agreeing to with the Lucas Company. This advantage is secured by attaching the ends of the wires with screws. The operation of replacing a fuse wire on a fuse holder on the road is certainly a little more finicky, but in our opinion not very much more so than the replacement of a fuse in the Lucas fuse holder. The advantage of carrying ready loaded spare fuses appears in the removal of the necessity of this operation on the road. Contd. R R 2227 (100 L) E H 338' 10-18-20 C 3241 | ||
