Propeller Shaft Long Chassis - Phantom III We send herewith N.Sch.4749 which shows a propeller shaft 8" longer than the present shaft to suit the proposed long chassis. The outside diameter is 3 1/2" and the thickness .104 as for our present shafts. The maximum safe speed (.7 of the theoretical whirling speed) is 4650 r.p.m. The whirling speed could be increased by a reduction of shaft thickness, but we understand that it is not practicable to do this owing to the swaging operation.
