Propeller Shaft
Long Chassis - Phantom III

We send herewith N.Sch.4749 which shows a propeller shaft 8" longer than the present shaft to suit the proposed long chassis.

The outside diameter is 3 1/2" and the thickness .104 as for our present shafts.

The maximum safe speed (.7 of the theoretical whirling speed) is 4650 r.p.m.

The whirling speed could be increased by a reduction of shaft thickness, but we understand that it is not practicable to do this owing to the swaging operation. In any case the increase in speed thus obtainable would only be very small.
