X5840. Mr. G.W.Hancock, c/o Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CWH. from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Ra.10/KT.10.5.33. We are very sorry to hear about your accident and hope that you will manage to clear the matter up with the police. We are sending you under separate cover two friction discs for the slipper wheel. We discovered these in the unit which we took out of 18.G.IV. and they have apparently done about 10,000 miles in this car without causing any trouble. It will be remembered that this same material with brass wire proved unsatisfactory in 19.G.IV. However, we are definitely looking for some lining with a greater tensile strength for the Bentley and should therefore like you to run these discs in preference to those you have at present fitted. We are purposely sending you the old ones so that we may get a further 10,000 miles running on them in France. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
