YOUR REF: Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}4/MH.{M. Huckerby} OUR REF: HEP/BMT.374. FORT DUNLOP ERDINGTON BIRMINGHAM Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of S.H.Grylls, Esq. 25th March, 1938. Dear Sirs, In thanking you for your letter of the 24th instant and confirming our telephone conversation this morning, our Works have been instructed to proceed with the parts against your order No: 54600, with a 10º cone angle in the nuts and on the nose of the wheel shell. With regard to the provision of further samples with 30º angle for extended tests, we explained that we could if you wished let you have wheels almost immediately incorporating this modification, but as we understand you want to use up wheels already on your test machines, we have advised our Works to expect the return of two batches of six wheels each, the first of which we understand will be despatched this afternoon. Would you kindly have them consigned for Mr.Sharp's attention. Concerning wheel nuts, we have twelve in hand, and - as requested - will arrange to plate them and mark them so that they can be easily identified as 30º angle nuts. In connection with the wheel, we will put a distinguishing mark on the shells for identification purposes. Yours faithfully, FOR THE DUNLOP RUBBER CO.LTD. H.B. Price Manager, Car Manfrs. Division.
