2462 Extract from EHL/LG.221018. We wish to bring forward the following points which we consider are not satisfactory on 7CA. X.3082 (3) STARTER MOTOR We hope to have one of our latest starter motor equipments fitted to 7-CA shortly. This includes the new motor, switch and actuating box. (4) BATTERY IGNITION We assume that as all cars will be fitted with the starter motors, we shall fit a non-trembler form of ignition. We suggest that the necessary modifications should be put in hand to make the 6-cylinder set as fitted to 49-CB suitable for the chassis. The condition of the contact breaker points, were not very good on 7-CA after the run down from Derby. The capacity of the condenser and the ballast resistance should be altered to suit the com-paritive very slow average speed of the car engine. If the modifications mean new stabalite mouldings, they should be put in hand as soon as possible as it takes months to get the first samples of these parts. X.2768. (5) MAGNETO We ought to decide what make of magneto we intend to use on the chassis. X.3014 (6) DYNAMO We have received a sample from Lucas' of a dynamo made to suit our requirements. We do not like the look of it because of its bulk and weight (40Lbs) It may be we have set down such requirements which can only be obtained from a big machine. The Lucas dynamos we fitted previous to the war, were only the average size. We have asked Mr. Clark | ||
