RECEIVED E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner}9/HP. 14th February 1933. The Director of Army Contracts., Caxton House, West, Tothill Street, Westminster, LONDON. S.W.1. Dear Sir, re 20/25 HP. Rolls-Royce Tank Engines. --------------------------------- We have to acknowledge receipt of your "Cts.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}I/555 (D.C.2) of the 10th February relating to the filter unit comprising condenser and choke which it was found necessary to introduce into the battery system on the sample tank tested at our Works fitted with a Rolls-Royce 20/25 H.P. tank engine which had been bonded against wireless interference. We are unable to agree to your contention that the provision of this unit should be made by us on the fifty engines now under construction for you according to the terms of our contract for the following reasons:- (1) Whatever system of bonding and screening had been employed on the engine, this filter unit would have been necessary in the battery system - that is to say, the need for this unit is not due to any defect in the system of bonding and screening designed and supplied by us on our tank engines. (2) Our contract clearly states (Section (g) of appendix "A") that our obligations finish so far as the ignition system is concerned at the input terminal of the ballast resistance. The filter unit lies beyond this point. (3) At a meeting held with Colonel Studdert on the 30th January at the War Office our Lieutenant-Colonel | ||
