JAD/MGG. YOUR REF. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/MH.{M. Huckerby} 23rd. November 1939. W.A.Robotham,Esq., Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., DERBY. Dear Mr.Robotham, I thank you for your letter of the 16th.inst., Messrs. Grylls and Hardy called here and we went through the details. I am in agreement with the view that the bottom of the Splines should be at least the diameter of the neck of Axle Shaft. We have noted at times the U.S.A. do not adhere to this absolutely. They, however, have a novel method which I forget, which works on the area ratio of shaft to area of teeth. We have produced print 3HA-001-5, showing the model 23 centre with suitable shafts, tubes etc., and your fittings for Rippletto, but we are still not clear on the fittings for the Myth. If you will please check this print it will allow us to proceed. Yours sincerely, J.A.Daniell | ||
