40/50 H.P. Dynamo.

Referring to your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/CAP1/AD29.5.31.
40/50 H.P. Dynamo intended to be used on N.2 series.
It is not clear to me why the curve No. 1 is shown in which a peak current up to 16½ amps is developed when on battery only, in view of the fact that with the two-switch scheme the conditions of running would be either :-

(a) Resistance in field circuit, battery in circuit only, no lights on.

(b) Resistance cut out of field circuit, headlights in use and battery on charge.

The curve No. 1 would never be a help unless there were provided an additional point on the control-switch enabling the driver to overcharge his battery with no lamps on, in the way we wish to avoid. Probably the explanation is simply, but I fear at the moment it is not obvious, and shall be glad of your remarks.
