To HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}

We have to day been trying to fathom the oil question

We have proved out the following
(1) Variation of Oil pressure during running.
(2) Cause of drop in pressure when braking.
(3) Probable cause of high oil temperature

The three items are caused by the lag of oil returning to the base chamber.

There is three quarters to one gallon of oil held in the return passages of the engine, out of one and a half gallons. This means at high speeds we have on occasions half a gallon of oil in the base chamber for cooling purposes. This causes the fluctuations
