RE CONDENSERS. X.2512

I am returning herewith the second sample condenser submitted to us by the Salford Electrical Company, who were originally working under the G.E.C. This condenser has broken down between the tinfoil and the bolts passing through the condenser, in exactly the same way as the original condenser of our own design submitted by the above company, previously failed.

EFC, emphasizes in his memo the fact, that any ticking noise which represents a temporary breakdown, must be considered a sufficient reason upon which to reject any particular condenser, and that we cannot agree to the suggestion, that so long as the condenser itself does not appear to fail generally such a defect should be overlooked.

EFC, is also of the opinion that the holes for the bolts have been drilled through the condenser after same have been fitted together, whereas in our case, we drill each mica plate separately.

In order to get this matter settled, I think it would be the wisest proposition to ask Mr Turner of the S.E.C. to come to Derby to discuss the whole question, as we do not seem to get any further forward with this proposition.

I am returning you the faulty condenser herewith.
