STANDARDISATION of CHASSIS PARTS.

Date 6.4.27

Description of Parts. PISTON WITH 5 NARROW RINGS - INSTEAD OF 3 NARROW AND ONE WIDE AS AT PRESENT.

Origin. To improve design.

Experimental Test Report.
The present standard piston on 20 HP. has 3 rings .100" wide and one .187" wide. The proposal is to fit 5 rings .100" wide - this can be done without altering pin position of the top ring.
See drg. E.53955.

Road Test Report.
Fitted to 9-G-111 - run 8800 miles.
Fitted to 11-G-111 - run 3700 miles.
These are an improvement as regards gas tightness and reduce the tendency for rings to squeak.
