X6119 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. c. Ry. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst.3/AD4.10.32. PEREGRINE IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR We confirm our conversation regarding the trouble we have experienced due to water filling up the distributor terminal holes and short circuiting the H.T. terminals. This trouble can happen when filling the radiator with the bonnet open, when lifting the bonnet after heavy rain and due to rain driving through the radiator at the top. On the Delco-Remy the wires emerge from the side and the above difficulties do not arise. Also on the existing 20/25 and 40/50 distributor the water can drain away without causing trouble. The existing Peregrine distributor could be modified in this way by substituting screwed on terminals instead of the push in type, but we consider the scheme where the wires emerge horizontally to be a better job. We should be glad if you could give this matter your attention as it is obviously important with single battery ignition that the system should be trouble free. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. | ||
